How RFID hotel linen management works
RFID gives a textile a machine-readable identity. Readers detect that identity at selected operational checkpoints, allowing movements and inventory observations to become a record of how the textile circulates between hotel and laundry.
Identity, reading, record
In the Fides architecture, the RFID tag carries the EPC identifier. Descriptions and other textile attributes are held in the platform. Encoding assigns the RFID identity and registers it within Fides; a reading records a detected identity in its operational context.
A sequence of observations can connect dispatch of soiled textiles, receipt at the laundry and clean return to the hotel. Fides uses these records for inventory, movement, laundry-service, loss, usage and replenishment information. A last recorded read is evidence of a checkpoint, not a continuous live position.
The operational journey
The website's cinematic journey illustrates textiles moving from rooms to collection, leaving the hotel in a loaded cage, being received and processed at the laundry, and returning clean for distribution. The depicted staff scan full, stationary cages before dispatch and after receipt. Its scenes explain the workflow; they are not a connection to customer records.
The right capture process depends on the operation. Implementation agrees the scanning points, reading procedures, connectivity and responsibilities that will make the resulting information useful. The aim is reliable evidence with as little unnecessary work as possible.
Understand uncertainty
Missed reads, failed chips and partial tagging can affect the evidence. Fides distinguishes Tagged Stock from Projected Stock, and Parallel Inventory compares a physical count with RFID reads to assess performance. Measured observations and estimates should retain their different meanings.
A textile that has stopped appearing may be delayed, dormant, lost, damaged or affected by a reading problem. The useful question is what the evidence supports and which action follows. RFID enables that investigation; a tag alone does not establish the cause.
