Dormant, Lost and Damaged textiles
Dormant, Lost and Damaged are different textile states in Fides. Together they form DLD. Keeping them distinct makes the gap between total stock and stock available for operational use easier to understand.
Three different meanings
Dormant describes an article that has not been detected for a prolonged period but has not yet met the criteria for Lost. The Dormancy Period is configured. No universal number of days applies to every operation.
Lost describes an article that has not been detected for more than the configured Loss Period and is considered permanently removed from the textile pool. This is a system classification based on the recorded evidence and configured rules; a missing read alone is not proof of theft or of another party's fault.
Damaged describes an article permanently removed from service because wear, stains, tears or another condition makes it unfit for operational use. Damage is a different cause from an unexplained absence.
Read stock health alongside availability
Available Stock excludes Dormant, Lost and Damaged items. DLD is the combined total of these categories. Fides connects the terms to Stock Overview and dedicated views such as the Dormant Registry, Loss Registry, Damaged Overview and DLD Dashboard.
A textile can remain physically present while a chip no longer responds. The glossary calls this Chip Failure. Parallel Inventory compares physical counting and RFID reading to help assess that difference. Keep known withdrawals, stock states and identification problems separate when investigating a shortage.
Use the last read as evidence
The last recorded location helps direct an investigation and supports the Fides concept of Loss Attribution. It should be read with the agreed operating process and commercial responsibilities. A status or last read should not be presented as an automatic legal conclusion about liability.
